MENTOR BIO
Cardiothoracic Surgery
This year, my mentor’s name is Dr. Kelley Hutcheson, who is a cardiothoracic surgeon practicing in Baylor Heart Hospital Plano and Baylor Regional Medical Center in Plano. She has a keen interest in heart valve surgery, performing over 350 surgeries in this specialty out of 800. In addition, she attended the Duke University Medical Center to complete her education and was even named as Chief Resident of her class in 2011. Currently, she is a part of research in the hospital studying minimally invasive mitral valve surgeries to integrate her passion for valve surgery and modern technology for the better patient results. Dr. Hutcheson values the patient-doctor relationship as she makes an effort to truly listen to the patient’s concerns and then provides them a fully informed response about the problem, treatment, or solutions. I am truly honored to have a mentor that loves their job and is the best there is. I cannot wait to learn more under the expertise and mentorship of Dr. Hutcheson.
