Time to Publish Ideas

Over the course of this week, I was able to go on a mentor visit, self-evaluate my original work speech, and have a more solid plan for my final product. At my mentor visit, I was able to talk to Dr. Hutcheson over the pathway to creating the final product and get any suggestions over whom to talk to, how to create a publication, and how to even get it published. For example, I will first be doing a lot of research over echocardiograms, newborn screening, and how the insurance companies would respond to allowing this specific test for all newborns. Next, I will find interviews with a pediatric cardiologist, image specialist, and an insurance representative. This way I can get more information about the importance of echocardiograms and its feasibility in the real world. Then, I am going to write my publication with the examples of papers that Dr. Hutcheson has written herself and those of other doctors. After writing them, I will be editing it extensively to the point I will be sending the finished publication to journals locally. I am so excited that not only will I learn so much from this process, but also display the importance of echocardiograms because they can truly save lives.

I was able to also find what I need to improve from my last speech to reduce the filler words I had, not pay attention so much to the time, and be more confident in my presentations. All in all, in the next week, I will be having my conference and complete my final draft of my final product proposal.

Best Regards,
